Willie Wonka and the Software Factory! Presents the Unofficial 'Master of Orion II Battle at Antares' Save game editor. -------==============------- This program may be freely distributed as long as this file is included un-edited from its original form, dated July 2, 2000. -------==============------- Instructions for use: IMPORTANT: Adding a bunch of stuff to your ship may make it so heavy that it will not move in combat. Use at your own risk! 1. What this editor does........................................ * With this editor, you can change your current credits starting at 5,000 and going up to 1,280,000. * You can also change any ships you currently have built. Ship components, weapons, and devices may all be changed. You must however know the name of the ship to be changed. * All edited games will be saved into slot 10. Slot 10 is your 'continue game' slot. The original save game will remain un- changed unless you load game slot 10. * You must know where your MOO2 games are saved on your hard drive. Most installations will go to your C:\Program Files\ directory. 2. Using the editor............................................. * First, you must locate your MOO2 save games. If you do not know where to look, you can search your drives for a file called 'Orion'. (without the quotes) Do this by starting your 'Explorer' program. From the start menu on the start bar, click on the program called 'Windows Explorer' (it may be in your programs folder.) Make sure your C: drive is highlighted in the left window. Then click on Tools on the top bar, and then Find files or programs. Enter the word 'Orion' into the box called Named:. then click Find Now. (If your really need this much help you probably should not be using this program anyway.) * Navigate to your saved game folder and select a saved game to edit. Now the main screen comes up. * If you need help, click on the help button. * First, in the top Left, your current credits are shown. In the list box to the right of it are values you can change this too. You can leave your credits as is or change it to 5,000 up to 1,280,000. * To change a ship, click on the box called 'Ship Name'. A box will display for you to enter a name in. Enter the name of your ship to search for. This IS CASE SENSITIVE. If your ship is not found, then you entered the incorrect ship name. If you do not change your ship name from what the computer gives it, then it may be possible that the computer may be using the same names for the computer players. * Once the ship is found, its stats are displayed. * To change items, click on the item. The selection box will fill with possible items you can change this selection to. Choose a selection and the item will be changed. * To add devices, click on the button called Devices. You can only add devices, or clear out all devices. I was going to let you delete one device at a time but I got lazy. What do you want for FREE??? * The game may become unstable if you add too many devices. Use it at your own risk. * Click the Next Ship button to look for another ship with the same name to edit. * The first ship found is usually the 'Build' ship prototype. Not actually a ship in your fleet. If you edit the wrong one, you still have your original save game. (as long as you save to slots 1-9 only) * There is a password you can enter under the 'Next Ship' button. It will add the device called 'None' to your device list. I think this makes the game not look at the weight of your devices when it calculates your movement. Have not tested this much so I am not providing the password here. Like I said before, what do you want for FREE? *When you are done, click the save game button. The game will be saved to slot 10. Thats about it. Have fun!
