File Menu ═══ The File menu contains the following items o Open o Copy o Print o Copy to File o Append to File o Search o Search next ═══ 2.1. Open ═══ Use the Open selection to select one of the available guides. Whenever a guide is selected, additional information about it is shown. ═══ 2.1.1. Open a guide (List) ═══ This facility allows you to select any of the available Guides. Below this list you see a short description of the highlighted guide. ═══ 2.1.2. Open a guide (Open button) ═══ Press this button to open the highlighted file. As an alternative you also might double-click the highlighted Guide. ═══ 2.1.3. Open a guide (Cancel button) ═══ This button cancels the dialog for selecting a Guide. ═══ 2.2. Search ═══ The Search facility allows you to search within the guide. ═══ 2.2.1. Text (Entering Search text) ═══ In this box you can type the string to search for. You can also mark some text in the viewer panel, then activate the Search dialog. The marked text is copied into the text field. The maximum allowed length of text to search for is 64 characters. If you mark a larger block of text, this selection can be used by the Search marked block option. ═══ 2.2.2. Options (Search from top) ═══ If you do not check this option, search will start it action at the current cursor location. If you want to start the search at the top of the current text panel, you need to check this option. ═══ 2.2.3. Options (Search marked block) ═══ With this option, only the currently marked block will be searched for. However, note that the marked block contain at least 65 characters, to avoid having NGViewer automatically inserting the text into the Search Text field. ═══ 2.2.4. Options (Case sensitive) ═══ With this button you can specify whether the search should be performed case sensitive (button checked) or not. ═══ 2.2.5. Search (Search button) ═══ Pressing this button starts the text search process. ═══ 2.2.6. Search (Cancel button) ═══ Pressing this button aborts the search dialog and returns you to the viewer. ═══ 2.3. Search next ═══ The Search next facility allows you to search again within the selected topic for the previously entered item. ═══ 2.4. Copy ═══ The Copy selection puts the selected topic onto the Clipboard. Note: This options only works on the selected block of text. ═══ 2.5. Print ═══ The Print selection provides you with a hardcopy. Note: This options only works on the selected block of text. ═══ 2.6. Copy to File ═══ The Copy to File option simply puts the selected topic to the file NGVIEW.TMP Note: This options only works on the selected block of text. ═══ 2.7. Append to File ═══ The Append to File option simply appends the selected topic to the file NGVIEW.TMP Note: This options only works on the selected block of text. ═══ 2.8. Fonts ═══ The Fonts facility allows you to select any of the available fixed-size fonts. Most of the guides expect a non proportional font. If you are using OS/2 V2.1, consider using Font System VIO 4. Note: Don't forget to save your settings if you selected another font ! ═══ 2.8.1. Font (List) ═══ The font currently in use is highlighted. Make the appropriate choice from the list of available list of fonts. If only a few fonts are available you might consider installing additional ones. Refer to the OS/2's 2.x selective install facility. ═══ 2.8.2. Font (Bold) ═══ Check this button if you need the selected font to be more emphasized. ═══ 2.8.3. Font (Italic) ═══ Check this button if you want the selected font to be italicized. ═══ 2.8.4. Font (Select button) ═══ Press this button to use the desired font. (you can also double-click) ═══ 2.8.5. Font (Cancel button) ═══ Press this button abort the font selection dialog. ═══ 2.9. Colors ═══ The Colors facility allows you to select any of the available colors. After pressing Set, the selected foreground/background color combination is used. Note: Don't forget to save your settings if you selected other colors ! ═══ 2.9.1. Color (Foreground) ═══ This list shows all available foreground colors. ═══ 2.9.2. Color (Background) ═══ This list shows all available background colors. ═══ 2.9.3. Color (Set button) ═══ If you press this button the selected colors are used. ═══ 2.9.4. Color (Cancel button) ═══ If you press this button the program will cancel the color selection, and resume operation without changing the color settings. ═══ 2.10. Save Options ═══ The Save Options facility allows you to save the current font, the current foreground and background color. These options are saved in the file AURA.INI and thus should be located on a private diskdrive. ═══ 3. General help for entries ═══ Select the desired topic. Double click it to reveal the related information. ═══ 3.1. Menu Help ═══ This is some help on the Help menubar. ═══ 3.2. Description of the application keys ═══ You do not need a mouse to use this program. Use the arrowkeys and ENTER to select an item, or press Escape to go a level back. With F2 you can select a new Guide to view. ═══ 3.3. This is Help For Help ═══ You have selected the Help For Help default action. This program shows you a guide from within the PM-environment. It is compatible with OS/2 version 1.2 thru 2.1 ═══ 3.4. Extended Help ═══ This option is a part of the guide you have opened. It is not a part of the NGViewer program. If you activate this option, a list of text is shown. ═══ 3.5. Keys Help ═══ Available accellarator keys are: F1 - The help system. F2 - Open a guide. F3 - Search a phrase. F4 - Refind a phrase. F5 - Select desired font. F6 - Select desired color. F11 - Show index. F12 - Show product information. ═══ 3.6. Help Index ═══ This options provides you with an index of available keywords. ═══ 4. Revision History ═══ Release 2.4: Directory containing Guides could be a shared network directory. This release introduces a new method of finding its HELP and INI file. Remember that AURA.INI contains options of our other programs too. AURA.INI is located in the directory of the running program or located anywhere using the DPATH environment variable. NGViewer is located in the directory of the running program or located anywhere using the HELP environment variable. You can specify (as an argument) a guide to open NGViewer with. Release 2.3: - Improved file open dialog. - Disabled buttons while no Guide is selected. - First Public Release.
