Issue 9 Poll:

Time to trash the trashcan?

Notes about the poll:

It's a terrible thing, having to count up all these votes. My mailbox is overrun with your electronic voting papers. So, as I may already have mentioned, I'm going to try and write an Arexx CGI to count them up. Anyone who wants to give me a hand, please do so

It seems the polling system has finally come out of it's teething problems. In the beginning, I got what, three votes, and now, I'm flooded with the darn things! The results of last months poll are down below, but on to this month's:

"Should we keep the trashcan?"

The trashcan has seen something of a renaissance recently, largely due to Win95's Recycle Bin, a blatant attempt to look `greener' than Apple. Recycle Bin? Puh-lease.

There are a few trashcan improvements kicking around to. Benchtrash puts the trashcan on the desktop, a la MacOS. However, you can still only empty the trash with the trash icon selected, and until the delete requester allows you to send the file to the trashcan directly, the trashcan seems as if it's one of those ideas that never really got of the ground.

If you want to vote YES, we should keep the trashcan, then you can register your vote by hitting this button. If for some reason, you can`t mail via your web-browser, send a mail to my address with <Lair,Trashcan,Yes> as the subject

If you want to vote NO, can the trash, then you can register your vote by hitting this button. If for some reason, you can`t mail via your web-browser, send a mail to my address with <Lair,Trashcan,No> as the subject

Results will be posted in the next issue, coming out on the 20th of November

Last Month's poll: I'm disappointed with the results, because I don't think they represent the views of the Amiga community. Personally, I think either someone slipped the news on to the CU mailing list (fair enough, as long as someone could have done that on the AF website, which was (and still is?) non operational), or those CU Amiga staff (with impeccable taste, I might add), linked to the Lair!, read the poll, and got the whole team to vote for themselves.

Well, here are the figures, decide for yourself:
