1997/98 Monaco GP Preview

by Markus Kruggel

And the treck moves on to glittering environment of Monaco. Because most of the IC drivers don't actually live in Monaco (unlike most drivers from minor racing series) all the folk really move and don't just step out of their home to have some laps in preparation of the race. Most probably, the drivers will get the qualifying done as soon as possible, to search the team truck for their waterproof overalls afterwards.

While the historic results may lead to the suggestion that Oliver Roberts will end up far in front, it shouldn't be forgotten that Michal Janak's result from the wet pre-season race at Phoenix wasn't included because it arrived late at the administrator's office. Otherwise he (and not the administrator) would have won that race that had conditions similar to what the drivers will find in the streets of Monte Carlo. With just 10 points behind the current point leader Oliver, Michal could be the first driver to take over the top spot of the points table from the two-time world champion - did anybody notice that Oliver leads the driver's table for over twenty consecutive events now? :-o

So will we see Michal win his third race in a row or will the rain produce a less expected result?
