The qualifying session at Estoril provided no shocks, as Rene Smit took pole position for the 6th time this season.

For the second race in a row, we had a new victor. This time the honour went to Virtual Trundle's Hans Gunnar Hansen, winning by over 6 seconds from Smit. Perhaps he was helped by the fact that this is his favourite circuit. Oliver Roberts trailed his championship rival Smit by 9 seconds, finding the traffic particularly troublesome.

Had it not been for a broken rear wing on lap 24, Italian GP winner Michal Janak could have had another podium finish. Instead, he had to settle for 4th place, just ahead of Patrick Giesbergen.

So, with only three races left, things are looking good for Roberts in the Drivers' Championship, leading Smit by 20 points. The battle for 3rd place is hotting up, with Janak, Robert Schaftlein, Hans Gunnar Hansen and Giesbergen all in with a chance.

The Constructors' Championship is even closer, with Digitech leading Nightmare On Pit Lane by just 16 points. Red Five Renault and Magia-Chrysler are both tied for 3rd place.
