Welcome to NeoTrace Express, a new way to trace web connections. This special free version of NeoTrace has been tuned to be as small as
possible, making it fast to download and a breeze to install. If you find
NeoTrace Express useful please tell your friends and colleagues about it. Once you
understand how useful NeoTraceing is be sure to check out
NeoTrace Professional,
our full-featured version. To trace a web site, or any computer on the internet, simply enter the name or IP address into the Target dialog. Once you have entered the name of the target press the Trace button. A map will display the results as they are gathered, and you will hear sounds indicating activity of the tracer. When the trace completes and all information about the trace has been gathered a completion sound will play.
(Please Note: All web-browser features currently require IE 5.0 or greater.) The next time you start your browser you will notice a new button on the
toolbar. This button will cause NeoTrace Express to trace to the web
site you are currently viewing or attempting to view. You will want to
trace when you find that you cannot reach a site, or that a site which normally
has good performance is behaving badly, or if you just are curious. You can also trace links on a page. For example this is useful when you have a choice of several different locations to retrieve a file from. By comparing the ping time and total number of hops to the remote sites you can frequently identify the site that is best for you. If the icon does not appear you should make sure you have closed all copies of the browser. If it still does not appear you will need to customize your toolbar. (click link for more information) Important Details When NeoTrace Pro is installed on the same system as NeoTrace Express the browser-tied features will cause NeoTrace Pro to run instead of NeoTrace Express. View the NeoTrace FAQ for information on changing this behavior. NeoWatch users can choose between this version of NeoTrace Express, NeoTrace Pro or the NeoTrace Express that comes with NeoWatch. To change which one NeoWatch is using look in the Options dialog on the General tab. The first time you run NeoTrace Express (at the end of the installer) you will be prompted for your home location. This home location information is used in plotting the maps only. Registration is free for personal use, but is required. Registration is easy and only takes a few seconds. We appreciate it. Your email address will only be used to inform you of program updates and related news. Useful topics:
