Bob is a pseudonym for a man who lives and works in the Denver area.
In late August, I saw an object that was clearly identifiable through cottonwood dander as a luminous object. It was at a higher altitude and was moving in a different direction than the cottonwood. Curiously, it was also near an airliner. I watched it for two minutes, steadying myself against the BB Hoop. I ran to the basement for my camcorder, but it vanished by the time I got back up. It should be noted, this was the day after Tim Edwards Cylinder video. I had no knowledge of Timıs video at the time of the sighting. A friend at work informed me of the video, and that I should watch the news that evening.
On December 7, 1995, several of my co-workers paged me to observe an extremely bright object in the area near the foothills. We watched it for close to 15 minutes. It was completely stationary for that period. As may of seven of us were watching it. Suddenly, it disappeared in an instant. About 15 seconds later, it re-appeared in the area of Red Rocks Amphitheater, about 4 miles away. You do the math. It stayed in that area for several minutes, and vanished again. It re-appeared near the original position and remained there for some time. Two of these observers were ex military that were very familiar with aircraft. No photographs were taken.
On December 10, 1995, I was in my garage, preparing to remodel my bathroom. Still spooked by the sighting of the 7th, I looked up, and spotted an extroardinarily bright object, in the near vicinity of an airliner. I ran into the house, called my wife to come out, and fired up the camcorder. The elapsed time was only 20-30 seconds. In the video, the object appears and disappears several times over the 8-9 minutes of continuous tape, in several areas of the sky. One person who viewed the video remarked how it appeared to be avoiding me, fading out as I got a good view. I noticed that I was able to lock in on several fade-ins, too. There was a great deal of high contrast cloud cover, to show apparent motion of the object. The Bronco-Seattle game plays in the background, giving a precise time element of the events.
Near Christmas, I showed a friend of mine the footage. He asked me to stop the video after only a few seconds, since he wanted to describe to me a similar sighting near the foothills he had seen on a construction sight, to see if we saw the same object. His sighting was about 2-3 weeks prior to Christmas, putting it darn close to my video. His description included bizzarre nosediving in and near the foothills where I shot the video, and re-appearing near Roxborough park(way south of town). He was stunned when he watched the rest of the video, and he visually identified the object as being the same or similar.
I am an experienced amateur astronomer and photographer. I grew up around airplanes and recognize most aircraft on sight. I always seek traditional explanations for such anamolies, and usually can explain them. I cannot explain this. I welcome your constructive comments and explanations.
