Installation

To install the driver

For all Oses, use Intel Setup Installshield or standard Display Driver Installation Procedure

Silent Install:

setup -s

-r option forces reboot after install.

Changes between 5.06 and 5.09

·          The main difference is that this problem fixes an incompatibility between Intel video drivers and drivers for PCI video cards (for example Matrox G450)

Changes between 4.1.4 and 5.05 / 5.06

·          This driver works with other Intel chipsets: 810/810e/815

·          Some bug fixes

·          2D performance improved by 30% without AIMM vide module

·          Intel ICD OpenGL acceleration is disabled (W9x) (More details below)

Certification information

This driver is certified by Microsoft.

Fixes

This section lists all the problems which were fixed since version Q815_414:

All operating systems:

·          Fixes an incompatibility between Intel video driver and PCI video card drivers (like Matrox G450)

W2000:

·          standby/hibernate hangs if launched when OpenGL application is running in 16bpp

·          OpenGL screensavers black screen in 16bpp

·          Flickering garbage when moving window in 1280x1024, 24bpp, 85Hz

·          1280x1024x24bpp, 75Hz desktop display corruption

·          3DWinbench 2000 skip all tests (see limitation below)

·          3D Mark2000 texture and overlay corruption

·          Garbage display during shutdown

·          Part of window remains on desktop after window is moved

W9x:

·          Under Win98 Second edition, in some cases, the PC cannot come back from standby mode. The PC hangs.

·          Flickering garbage when moving window in 1280x1024, 24bpp, 85Hz

·          Some display properties corruption

·          Speedy tests spills out

·          3DWinbench 2000 skip all tests (see limitation below)

·          Incorrect video Bios version reported

·          DVD doesn't play in 1024x768,16bpp,75Hz

·          All video modes are reported as being 60Hz on advanced diagnostics page

·          OpenGL screensaver corruption with monitor power saving features on

·          W95 OpenGL screensaver garbage w/ monitor power saving features on

·          Quicktime video window turns green after drag

·          Mediaplayer video window turns green after DOS box full screen

·          MS Excel 2000 cell string setting hang the system under japanese W98SE

·          INF install not silent, asks for 1 operator click

NT4:

·          Flickering garbage when moving window in 1280x1024, 24bpp, 85Hz

·          1280x1024x24bpp, 75Hz desktop display corruption

·          PC hang upon video mode change (black screen or freeze)

·          Incorrect name reported (810 instead of 815)

·          Winstone microstation test hangs the system

·          Winstone99 High-End graphics locks the system

·          incorrect video memory size reported by Intel Graphics Diagnostics

Known issues

W2000:

·          Pipes screen saver spills out of demo area in 8bpp and 24bpp modes. This is probably an operating system issue.

·          3D Winbench99 closes with error message: note that this benchmark also has problems with other graphic cards.

·          Some flickering pixels on desktop in 1280x1024x24, 85Hz w/ Speedy

·          Incorrect video memory size reported by Intel Graphics Diagnostics

·          video bios version not available

W9x:

·          Color corruption in 8bpp after OpenGL screensaver preview

·          Corrupt desktop when moving CTRL-ALT-DEL window: This is probably an operating system issue

·          Incorrect video memory size reported by Intel Graphics Diagnostics

·          All video modes are reported as being 60Hz on advanced diagnostics page

·          Some flickering pixels on desktop in 1280x1024x24, 85Hz with Speedy, which is an old graphic test program.

NT4:

·          Some flickering pixels on desktop in 1280x1024x24, 85Hz with Speedy, which is an old graphic test program.

·          It is not possible to install this driver on top of driver 4.1.4 (package Q815_414) without problem.

Known limitations

All Operating Systems

·          If an AGP card is used in the system, the integrated graphics is automatically disabled

·          You must set 16bit z-buffer within 3DWinbench2000 to run benchmark

·          32bpp color depth is not supported

Win 95 and Win 98

Intel ICD OpenGL acceleration is disabled. Icd is a part of the driver which accelerates Open GL. It is not a problem to disable it, as OpenGl applications can still be executed through a Microsoft layer in the Operating System. Disabling ICD makes the driver much more stable.

Win 2000

Verify that the file 'i81xgdev.dll' is not present in directory 'system32' after installation. If it is - remnants from older driver - it must be deleted.

Stability impact

·          None.
